I utilise several therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). I do however believe and have a passion in ensuring any intervention is tailored to the individual and their own needs.

To feel safe and secure within therapy, it is essential you feel comfortable with the therapist working with you. We offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation which will involve an initial discussion of your difficulties and what may be helpful for you.

Initial Appointment

 

If you would like to go ahead then we will make an initial appointment. This session will act as an assessment and allow us to begin to explore your difficulties in more depth in order to begin to understand and make sense of them. At the end of this session a provisional treatment plan will be developed this will then help guide our therapy sessions.

Subsequent Sessions

 

Together we will discuss if you wish to meet on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Each session will be 60 minutes long and begin to implement the treatment plan we have discussed in the assessment session. Depending on the plan a number of psychological therapies and models may be drawn upon or we may find ourselves using one model. We will review regularly to ensure we are meeting your goals. The number of session you will need can be discussed with your therapist and will be dependant on individual need and availability. As people reach the end of therapy, some like to increase the frequency of sessions before discharge; this is something we encourage and can offer.
